Board Meeting Minutes - April 2026

April 16

All present except: John Saulters, Trent Cliburn, Ed Marsalis, James Wilson

6:00pm: We had 807 members (including dependents) renew for 2026-2027. Of the 807 – around 650 renewed online. New member applications are open until May 31st. For the Family Day Range Fest – We have Glock on the steel plate rack, Sig and Holosun merchandise to giveaway. New members will be taken on site. Match directors will be set up as well.

6:13pm: Mr. Shannon would like to discuss lead removal of the range – Mr. Coleman states he mentioned this a long time ago. Mr. Coleman states they will come out and sort through the berm – get the lead out – and then repack the berm. Mr. Shannon would like for us to investigate it, and that we should do it when we want to do – not when we’re forced to do it. Mr. Coleman agrees it’s a good idea to have a company come out and get a proposal from them. Mr. Reno states the National park service is requesting bids for an old gun range oZ the trace, Ridgeland area, and they’re taking bids to clean that property up. General consensus is for us to get a company to come out and give us quote + additional information.

6:27pm: Mr. Reno states we need a load of crushed aggregate soon. Mr. Coleman will see if we can get it.

6:30pm: We haven’t been able to get in touch with Mr. Hilton regarding the front gate for the front gate widening project. If we’re unable to get in touch with him in the next few days, we’ll drop the project.

6:31pm: Awning extensions on Range 1A – Mr. Reno states the pistol shooters are requesting a similar awning extension on Range 1A – like Range 6. Mr. Reno asks us to think on that since the members have been requesting that, and decide whether it is in the budget for this year.

6:33pm: Mr. Shannon asks about the budget for the year. Mr. Coleman agrees that we should work on a budget. Mr. Wilson (treasurer) is not at BOD meeting to discuss. Mrs. Shannon will use Quickbooks to determine a budget based on last year’s spending and email it to Mr. Coleman.

6:36pm: Mr. Coleman suggests we give membership an opportunity to provide range suggestions on what they wish to see. Mr. Shannon suggests we investigate the GSSF or Shoot Sig competition at MRPC to bring in more people. On the family day range fest event we will have an interest survey for members with one or two available dates for them to come discuss what they would like to see change at the range (pistol, rifile, rimfire, etc…). Next year for renewals, we will have a survey on the renewal form for members. Mrs. Shannon will create the survey and have it available at the family day range fest event.

7:09pm: Mr. Milton brings up forced reset triggers – and members wanting to shoot that on the range. As of now, FRT are not allowed, and full auto agreements are no longer being issued. Mr. Coleman states the issue with FRT is insurance – and insurance does not allow that on the range – and there’s a huge issue with skipping bullets on the range with those. General consensus is to continue to not allow FRT’s.

7:30pm: Meeting adjourned.
